Committee Responsibilities and Members
Specific Responsibilities
1. Finance/Auditing Committee: The members shall be appointed by the President. The committee shall prepare the budget to be approved by
the chapter and make an annual audit of the treasurer's records.
Members: Vona King, Chair; Amy Bledsoe, Eloise Ikerd, Sherry Mayo, and Lola Belle Underwood.
2. Rules Committee: The members shall be appointed by the President. The committee shall:
a. receive all proposals for amending and revising the rules of the chapter;
b. study and present proposals to the Executive Board for recommendations;
c. present the approved proposals to the chapter members for vote;
d. update the chapter rules as they are amended or revised;
e. review the chapter rules every ten years then present them to the chapter and state committee for review.

3. Communications Committee: The members shall be appointed by the President. The committee shall:
a. communicate with the press, radio, television and professional publications about the progress and work of the Society;
b. prepare and distribute Omicron's newsletter;
c. be responsible for the handbook;
d. prepare and circulate among chapter chairmen materials that will be useful in making known the work of the Society;
e. encourage members to submit articles for the Society and other publications;
f. assist the secretary, when necessary, in preparation of minutes and in answering correspondence when needed.

4. Membership/Nominations Committee: The members shall be appointed by the President. The committee shall:
a. be responsible for the necrology records and memorial services. Procedure for membership shall be in accordance with the Delta State
Rules and Regulations;
b. shall contact each prospective candidate and obtain their acceptance before being presented to the chapter as a nominee;
c. present to the chapter, in even-numbered years, nominations for elective officers;
d. report the names and addresses of new officers to the Delta State President and International Headquarter;
e. shall be responsible for initiation and orientation of new members.

5. Program Committee: The Chairman shall be the vice-president; chairmen of the Personal Growth and
Services, Professional Affairs, Research, and Music committees shall form the committee. The committee shall:
a. develop programs in line with the International Program theme and the purposes of the Society;
b. secure a location for each meeting and direct the implementation of the programs;
c. promote the use of music at each meeting;
d. communcate program suggestions from the chapter to the state and consider materials developed by the state;
e. work with other committees in developing and presenting these programs.

6. Personal Growth & Services Committee: The members shall be appointed by the President. The committee shall:
a. develop and implement a program designed to enrich the personal lives of members and present to the chapter at the request of the
program chairman;
b. be informed about educational legislation before local, state, and national legislative bodies;
c. study and report to members the facts of the proposed legislation.
d. encourage members to participate in political and professional activities and to communcate indivdually with elected officials.

7. Music Committee: Members shall be appointed by the President. The committee shall:
a. be responsible for the development of music as part of the program at each meeting and presentation thereof;
b. whenever requested by the program chairman, provide a musical program for the chapter.

8. World Fellowship Committee: Members shall be appointed by the President. The committee shall:
a. encourage and support efforts of chapter women educators to travel, study and work in nations throughout the world;
b. encourage contributions to the World Fellowship Fund and other international projects;
c. initiate and maintain communcation with World Fellowship recipients studying abroad from the state of Missouri and present this
information to the chapter whenever called upon by the program chairman.

9. Research Committee: Members shall be appointed by the President. The committee shall:
a. suggest research projects at the chapter level;
b. publicize studies of the Society and other research pertinent to education and women;
c. present such information when requested by the program chairman;

10. Scholarship Committee: Members shall be appointed by the President. The committee shall:
a. follow the policies as outlined in Delta State Rules and Regulations regarding scholarships as related to this committee;
b. promote information about, interest in and support for scholarships at all levels;
c. use various media such as the press, television and radio, to disseminate this information to the public, as well as, present it to the
chapter when requested by the program chairman;
d. shall oversee the selection of the recipient of the Omicron Chapter Scholarship, given annually, provided funds are available;
even numbered years-undergraduate students pursuing an education degree;
odd numbered years-graduate students furthering their education beyond a Bachelor's Degree.

11. Professional Affairs: Members shall be appointed by the President. The committee shall:
a. encourage states and chapters to provide financial aid to prospective women educators;
b. study and recommend action on professional problems relating to education on the professional status of women;
c. develop and recommend guidelines for action on professional problems that affect education and women educators;
d. present the above information to the chapter when requested by the program committee;
e. encourage members to endorse and support legislation in the interest of education and women.

12. Scrapbook/Historian Committee: Members shall be appointed by the President. The committee shall:
a. compile a history of the chapter each year and place in proper order in the chapter scrapbook;
b. present a scrapbook to the outgoing president at the last meeting of the biennium;
c. shall take pictures and place on Omicron Chapter's website for other chapters to view.
The chairman will be in charge of collecting items for the scrapbook.

13. Initiation Committee: Members shall be appointed by the President. The Chair will be responsible for all initiation items and supplies. The
committee members will be responsible for preparing for each initiation ceremony.

14. Courtesy Committee: Members shall be appointed by the President. The committee shall:
a. submit courtesy rules for Chapter approval at the first meeting of each biennium;
b. send one red rose or an equivalent memorial at the family's request, in the death of a member;
c. defray appropriate expenses for a visit from a Delta State Officer or International Officer;
d. present the Omicron Chapter President with her Chapter President's Pin at the time of her installation as elected President of the
Chapter.
